PROJECT:  Ross Bridge Development     (Pictures)

SCOPE:   The new Ross Bridge Parkway (a $10.5 million road project) has opened up much of the 1,600 acres in the Ross Bridge project for development. The parkway consists of an approximately 3.7 mile new roadway with an approximately 150-foot bridge over the CSX Railroad and a 500-foot long bridge over Shades Creek. In addition to the new parkway, the development includes a golf course, hotel, resort and conference center, in addition to the planned approximately 1,770 homes, 600 apartments and more than 100 acres of commercial space, including the village center.

The Retirement Systems of Alabama ("RSA") has invested over $75 million to complete the golf course and the Ross Bridge Golf Resort and Conference Center, complete with a 262-room multi-story resort hotel.

A half-dozen neighborhoods with as many as 500 combined homes are in various phases of development. The project will includes garden homes in the $200,000 range all the way up to estate homes along the golf course expected to go as high as homeowner's desire. Also, currently underway is the development of an 80-acre village center, which will include shops, restaurants, offices and other commercial space.

Gallet & Associates has performed the Geotechnical and Materials Testing Services for all phases of the development, including dam design at the golf course (for Sunbelt Golf), Hotel and Conference Center (for Retirement Systems of Alabama) the Ross Bridge Parkway (for Daniel Corporation) and the residential subdivisions (for Daniel Corporation).

CLIENT:  Bowen Construction Services, Inc.

SCOPE:   Provided Phase I, Geotechnical and Construction Material Testing (CMT) services since 2002. Performed geotechnical explorations and CMT services to all Phase I to Phase IV developments on Windward Parkway in Alpharetta , GA. These developments mainly comprise of stores like H.H. Gregg, Office Depot, Walgreen's and LA Fitness with several other small retail buildings and restaurants. Geotechnical services included soil test borings as well as excavation of test pits. Suggested soil remediation technique of using geofabric by reducing the extent of deep undercutting of very loose, organic soils at a previous pond location on the project site. Gallet also monitored settlement of existing grades at pond location during deep fill placement. Provided laboratory services for borrow soil evaluation and soil stabilization methods for MSU retaining wall foundation. Gallet also provided NPDES services to their Maysville Elementary School project in Maysville, GA.

CLIENT:  Ram Development, Inc.

SCOPE:   Conducted a geotechnical exploration on an 11-acre site. Services included soil test borings and rock coring as well as conducting test-pit excavations using a backhoe to evaluate depth of rock across the site. Collected soil samples for laboratory testing such as moisture content, grain size analysis and atterberg limits tests. Also collected undisturbed soil samples for triaxial shear tests. Prepared a geotechnical report giving recommendations for foundation design, pavement design and retaining wall design parameters as well as recommendations for site preparation, excavation of soils and groundwater control.
